Michelle Rainey - Cannabis Hero
Casper Leitch and his guest, Michelle Rainey, discuss how cannabis can be used as a major medicinal source.
A Medical Cannabis Pioneer And A Legacy of Courage
Michelle Rainey was more than just an advocate; she was a force of nature in the medical cannabis movement. Her relentless passion, combined with her personal struggle with Crohn’s disease, positioned her as one of Canada’s most influential activists. She played a key role in pushing for marijuana legalization and access to medical cannabis, inspiring countless patients and advocates worldwide.
Michelle Rainey’s journey into cannabis activism was deeply personal. Diagnosed with Crohn’s disease as a teenager, she endured years of debilitating symptoms and the harsh side effects of pharmaceutical drugs. In the early 1990s, she discovered that cannabis provided unparalleled relief, helping her manage pain, inflammation, and digestive distress more effectively than traditional treatments. This life-changing experience ignited her advocacy, propelling her into a lifelong fight for medical cannabis access.
Her dedication to the cause became even more urgent in the final years of her life when she faced melanoma and lymphatic cancer. She turned to high-dose cannabis treatments, believing in its potential therapeutic effects, and continued to educate others on the medicinal benefits of cannabis as she battled her illness.
On October 20, 2010, Michelle Rainey passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. However, her legacy continues to shape the medical cannabis movement.
